Review by hotel critic
Review of Historic Huis Ter DuinNestled along the stunning coastline of Noordwijk, Historic Huis Ter Duin offers a mix of luxury and practicality, perfect for both business and leisure travelers. The hotel's immediate beach access and sweeping sea views are undoubtedly attractive. The rooms, while spacious and equipped with essentials like air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and tea facilities, exhibited signs of age with dated furniture and inconsistent decor that may not appeal to all tastes. The dining experiences ranged from average at the beachside restaurant to exceptional at the Michelin-rated dining room, but availability can be a challenge-reservations are essential. The hotel staff demonstrated friendliness, but our experience at the MC Wellness Spa was disappointing, marred by service inconsistencies that deviated from the expected luxury standard. When considering the price tag, which may feel excessive, guests should weigh the view, amenities like the indoor swimming pool, and the charm of the historical setting against potential service shortcomings. Huis Ter Duin is a worthwhile stay for those prioritizing location and sea access-albeit at a cost, which may require careful planning to maximize value.
